Road trips are special because they’re not just about getting from one place to another – the whole journey is meant to be a great adventure. There’s a wonderful feeling of freedom, little treats and indulgences, and special moments that you’ll remember forever (in a good way). But the fact is that despite all that, long drives and cramped spaces can take the shine off things quite quickly, and that’s a shame.
The question is, then, how can you turn every journey into something that feels more fun and luxurious at the same time? There are a few things you can do, so keep reading to find out what some of them are.
Make Things More Comfortable
Luxury really starts with comfort – you can build everything else on top of that. Who wants to spend hours in a stiff, uncomfortable seat, for example?
That’s why it’s wise to invest in plush seat cushions that make long drives so much better to deal with. And you could also get a heated or even massaging seat cover to improve things that little bit more – they really do exist! If you’re not the one driving, you could also use some noise-cancelling headphones to block out the road noise (if you are the driver, you’ll need to be alert to those noises, so headphones aren’t recommended). Or what about a high-quality blanket to keep you nice and warm? It all adds up to excellent levels of comfort.
Make Food A Priority
What do you usually eat when you’re on a road trip? You might pack some sandwiches and snacks from home, but they can quickly get warm and unpleasant. Or perhaps you but some bits and pieces from service stations, or stop at roadside cafes… none of that’s particularly luxurious.
To make things better, you could instead make sure you’re driving a well-equipped campervan and ensure that camper kitchens were on your list of must-haves. Having a compact, well-equipped and well-designed kitchen setup means you can cook some amazing meals on the go – you could have a coffee maker, a microwave, and a real oven so you can make everything you want, and of course, you’ll have all the storage you need as well. That way, you’ll never go hungry and you’ll always enjoy your food – now that’s a luxury when you’re on a road trip!
Enjoy The Journey
It’s important to remember that luxury isn’t just about what you’ve got and what you bring with you on your travels – it’s also about how you travel and what you do. So instead of rushing from one place to the next, what about taking the scenic route? You’ll be able to find some amazing hidden gems, pull over to look at the views whenever you want, and basically savour the whole journey rather than just the destination.
If you’ve got a great campervan to sleep in, turn it into a home from home for the most comfortable experience. If you’re in your car, book into some gorgeous boutique hotels and try new things – you never know what you’ll discover.
