One of my favorite easy southern California getaways is Palm Springs! (I’ve even written a few guides on the topic, including some of the most Instagrammable spots) Since we go pretty frequently, I love to explore different places each time I stay.
This time I opted for one of the newest arrivals on the Palm Springs scene, the Rowan Palm Springs, a downtown property from the Kimpton chain of boutique hotels. Upon entering the hotel, the stylish open air lobby wows you with modern design while the large windows provide tons of natural light and gorgeous view of the San Jacinto Mountains. Bonus: if you happen to arrive around 5pm, during social hour, there will definitely be a complimentary glass of wine waiting for you!
The location is amazing, nestled against the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, in downtown Palm Springs. Featuring one of the few (probably the only) rooftops in Palm Springs with fabulous desert views, airy rooms and a bar that the locals hang at, this hotel did not disappoint. With dazzling views out of the floor to ceiling windows on every floor of the hotel, I really didn’t want to leave (and luckily we didn’t have to!)
With two restaurants and two bars on site, there is something for everyone at the Rowan. If you are looking for a more fine dining experience book yourself a table at the popular 4 Saints. Dinner is served with a side of breathtaking views from the city to mountains. The fresh Mediterranean-inspired small plates are perfect for sharing and here’s what we ordered: Charred broccolini and cedar roasted carrots – these were grilled to perfection. Ranch Filet with peppercorn, spinach, pomme dauphine; those cheesy potato balls are so delicious we asked for one more side even after we had eaten everything else. Chef’s light smoked salmon; the touch of honey gave this salmon the perfect flavor. ProTip: Book a meal here right before sunset!
Besides the extraordinary food, the Rowan might be just as well known for its rooftop pool. I definitely spent the bulk of my time trying to stay cool by sipping on delicious cocktails from High Bar. Pro-tip: they have happy hour from 7-10 (close) on Sunday through Thursday.
The lobby is home the Window Bar (aka the perfect place to both unwind at the end of a long day and to kickstart a night out) and Juniper Table, the perfect casual spot for breakfast right before you head out for the day.
Location is everything at the Rowan. Right outside the hotel’s doorstep is one of the main thoroughfares for the city, Palm Canyon Drive. Home to some of the best restaurants, stores and galleries. You can even shop places like H&M, MAC Cosmetics, Free People, Francesca’s and Tommy Bahama. Right behind the property sits the Palm Springs Art Museum, a gem of a museum that displays tons of local artists. Pro Tip: The Rowan has complimentary bikes you can borrow. A great way to get around town when its not too hot!
THINGS I LOVE:
- Kimpton wine happy hour is daily from 5-6
- High Bar has happy hour from 7-10pm and a killer view of the mountains and city
- Cruise around Palm Springs on a complimentary bike
- Pet friendly hotel
- Balcony’s off each room
- The rooms are relatively comfortable with several outlets placed strategically throughout
- Rooftop Pool
THINGS TO KNOW
- There’s a daily resort fee of $35, which includes valet parking, gym usage and bike rentals
- There’s no spa, but you can book treatments in your room
Overall, I loved the Rowan and it is definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood with its chic vibe.

Omg that rooftop! I want to go! I am missing Palm Springs but not sure when I will get back out there. Love the rooftop pool though, very cool.
The decor alone plus the rooftop pool, the views and the bikes, make me want to book this place for our next vacation. Super cute!
It is definitely one of my top properties in Palm Springs for ALL of those reasons plus complimentary wine hour!
