Ohio might just be the most underrated state in the United States, and Cleveland might be its most underrated city. This city offers a little something for everyone, from awesome days out that the whole family will love, to exceptional bars and eateries that ensure you’re never far from something delicious.
Plus, depending on the type of weather you like, you’ll find that Cleveland can deliver. This is a city that truly has four seasons, with snowy winters and sunny summers. Still not convinced? Check out our list of reasons why Cleveland is worthwhile visiting.
It Has a Lot of Outstanding Museums
Cleveland has many of the best museums in the Midwest. Here you’ll find the Great Lakes Science Center, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Museum of Natural History, and perhaps most exciting of all, the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame. The latter is an absolute must-visit if you’re a music lover — where else can you find the jacket that John Lennon wore on the cover of Sgt. Peppers, the original handwritten lyrics to God Only Knows by The Beach Boys, or pieces of a guitar that Kurt Cobain destroyed on stage?
You Can Hike For Days
There are a lot of hiking trails in and around Cleveland, which has a lot more green space than most people realize. It’s well worth packing your hiking boots, especially if you’re visiting in late Spring when the weather is absolutely perfect. One of the best places to go for a walk is Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which is around a 25-minute drive from downtown Cleveland. Once there, you’ll have more than 150 miles of hiking routes just waiting to be discovered. There’s also the Cleveland Metroparks System, which offers a near-endless list of outdoor exploration options.
It’s Set Up For Visitors
Cleveland doesn’t just offer visitors exciting attractions. It also provides plenty of practical touches that make it as easy as possible for visitors to have a great time while in the city. It has a great public transportation system, making getting around extremely straightforward, and there are plenty of excellent Cleveland Ohio hotels to stay in, too. Throw in comparatively few tourists and a lower cost of living, and you have a destination that ticks a lot of boxes.
There’s a Great Food and Drink Scene
It’s worth bringing your appetite to Cleveland. Why? Because there are so many delicious things to try! There’s a great craft beer and organic wine scene, plus a whole host of restaurants that offer delicious food in big portions (and often at great prices). What’s great about Cleveland’s food scene is that it’s so diverse. Around the city, you’ll find outstanding Italian, Asian, Polish, and BBQ food, all within the downtown area.
You Can Visit Cedar Point
Finally, visitors to Cleveland can easily visit Cedar Points, one of the best theme parks in the city. It’s located around an hour away from downtown Cleveland, which means that it’s more than possible to take a day trip.
